27/02: Ski Mountaineering constituted his own federation: ISMF

New ISMF LogoToday is for sure a day that will be remembered in ski mountaineering's history. The members of the former ISMC (International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions of UIAA) constitute the ISMF: International Ski Mountaineering Federation. For the first time in his history, ski mountaineering has a real international federation with independent legal entity which will for sure help to develop the sport.

31 countries created this new federation, and immediately admitted 2 new member: Slovakia and New Zealand. Sweden asked ask well to begin the process to be member. So already 34 nations conform this new body which will have to deal with ski mountaineering competitions.
The first duty of ISMF is now to define the relationships with UIAA, which is the "mother" of this new situation. ISMC and UIAA will work together to define their relationships before the next season, so that ISMF could begin with clear rules and responsibilities the season 2008-2009.
