Essential Resume Content: What Applicants Need to Know
Every year, millions of people submit their resume to different companies to look for job opportunities. Working students, fresh graduates, and even professionals seek for jobs where they can use their service or knowledge and earn money.
However, not all companies can supply the needs of job seekers. Sadly, there aren’t enough job vacancies that can accommodate everyone. People have the right to apply for a job they like, however they need to prove themselves worthy of the positions they are applying for. To impress employers, they need to write a presentable resume.
A lot of people probably have the dilemma of resume writing. Conceptualizing and determining what to write and how to present substantial information to the employer are probably the most difficult parts. Nonetheless, applicants need not fret anymore once they learn the essential parts of a resume written in a particular order.
1. Personal Information
This part includes the complete name of the applicant, address, contact numbers and email address.
2. Career Objective
Includes a short description as to what position in the company an individual is applying for.
3. Education
This part contains an individual’s summary of educational achievements in the undergraduate or graduate level. This includes the school name, degree, GPA, certifications, and academic awards.
4. Work Experience
The individual must include his or her work experience whether full-time or part-time, together with the company name and duration of work in the company. Internships may also be included in this part of the resume.
5. Professional Memberships and Extracurricular Activities
This part lists the names of organizations, club memberships, teams or honor societies the individual is part of.
6. Special Skills
This part includes skills such as computer, technical, and foreign language skills to name a few.
7. References
This contains names of people who are not relatives or family members of the applicant. These people must know the applicant for more than a year, for the purpose of character referencing.
In conclusion, there isn’t such a thing as a perfect resume, although an individual will have a higher chance of landing an interview because of an organized personal data. One must not consider mass production of resumes as different companies credit only those work related to their industry.
