II South American Cup of Ski Mountaineering

The opening of the II South American Cup of Ski Mountaineering U.I.A.A., organized by the “Club Andino Bariloche” and the “Federacion Argentina de Ski y Andinismo”, took place on September the 2nd 2006 in Chall Huaco Mountain.

The race was developed in a really good atmosphere between the 29 racers, 9 came from Chile, 1 from Spain, and 1 from France. With an itinerary of 1500 meters of vertical rise the winners were Leonardo “Cuny” Proverbio in senior male category and Mercedes Sahores in senior female category both from Argentina.

The ski center Termas de Chillan, in Chile, Hosted the final race of the South American Cup organized by the “Federacion Chilena de Andinismo”.Due to an important rain, the itinerary was shortened to 350 meters of vertical rise, on the east side of the ski center.

The winners of the II South American Cup of Ski Mountaineering were: in senior male, Leonardo “Cuny” Proverbio from Argentina, winner of the I Cup also; and Carolina Palma from Chile in senior female.
