The skimountaineers of Austria had the most important meeting of the season on Saturday 29th March in Dachstein: the Austrian Champioships. Dachstein Xtrem ist THE ski mountaineering race in Austria and is known as the hardest race in Austria and East-Alps: 16,9km, 1960m uphill including the climb of the mythic Hoher Dachstein (almost 3000m). After the success of the race last year, valid for the World Cup, 110 Athletes were ready to take the start this year.

Cette année la course autrichienne ne figure pas dans le calendrier international, mais beneficie d'une presence internationale soutenu:Allemagne,Italie,Suisse,USA, Finlande,.... en total 8 pays!
Le départ initialement prévu a 12h a été reportée à 13h pour attendre le soleil et que le vent ce calme.La décision était chanceuse et les coureurs ont pu profiter du soleil et de la montée par via ferrata au sommet du Hoher Dachstein (2995m). Le parcours comportait aussi un autre passage sur arrête a Kleiner Gjadstein (2734m) et des passage a conversion.
La course a été importe par Alex Lugger avant Alex Hug et par Lydia Prugger en catégorie féminine.

FINAL PODIUMS OF EUROPEAN CUP YOUTH

Le Suisse Florent Troillet gere bien la course et arrive a la premiere position. La surprise de cette saison, Wiliam Bon Mardion, prend la medaille d´argent et Dennis Brunod le bronze.

With a great sunny day took place the 18th March the Dachstein Xtreme Race, final race of the Europe Cup. Start was at 10 am from the upper station of the Dachstein cable car, without skins and in small descent. The itinerary had to be smoothly modified due to the bad conditions of the Schwadrin couloir, the steepest descent, but the Hoher Dachstein, the highest point of the race, could be done.
