The technical commission finalizes its new sport rules proposal which were already approved by Management Committee. The final "OK" will be pronounced on GA in Teheran in October of this year.
The principal changes:

The ISMF Management Committee approved enthusiastically he new sports project presented by the Technical Director, Mr. André Dugit. Important changes are introduced for 2009, especially in the World Cup. The MC Committee as well elected in a very balanced and difficult election the final candidate for the World Championships 2012: finally Austria (Schladming) won.

After the success of New Zealand's first ski mountaineering race series last winter, the 2008 series has been announced. The series will again be made up for 5 races, with the Ohau, Craigieburn and Turoa events all returning and new races added that will be held at Porters and Rainbow ski area's

Troillet-Hug-MoretEtzensperger-Magegant-PontThe patrol n°512 (Troillet-Moret-Hug) just arrived in Verbier in a time of 06:24:32. The women patrol 409 (Etzensberger, Magnenat, Pont-Combe) won the race and beat the old record with a time of 07:53:25!

The team Troillet-Moret-Hug crossed Rosablanche in the first place with a confortable advantage in fornt of the French team Perrier-Gachet-Blanc. If Troillet wins the race he will be the only athlete in the world to win the 3 most important races (Mezzalama, Pierramenta, PDG) in less than one year. Even the record may be beaten today: the leading team is in Col the Momin and the expected finish time is 6h03!

The skimountaineers of Austria had the most important meeting of the season on Saturday 29th March in Dachstein: the Austrian Champioships. Dachstein Xtrem ist THE ski mountaineering race in Austria and is known as the hardest race in Austria and East-Alps: 16,9km, 1960m uphill including the climb of the mythic Hoher Dachstein (almost 3000m). After the success of the race last year, valid for the World Cup, 110 Athletes were ready to take the start this year.
